Almond Milk Recipe

By Christina | Food Apparel 1 Comment

Make your own healthy almond milk that you can use to drink or in recipes for those with lactose intolerance issues.Almond Milk at foodapparel.com

If you are looking for a good alternative to cow’s milk, look no further! Almond milk has become a favorite around our place – really tasty, and packed full of nutrition! Protein, healthy fats, calcium, and tons of vitamins…..If you don’t believe me, go check out the facts on almonds for yourself. It’s super easy to make. And you can easily substitute the almonds for rice, although a lot of the nutritional benefits will be lacking with rice.

Author Tammy Blankenship

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw whole almonds
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract optional
  • 1-2 tablespoons agave optional, sugar, or honey

Instructions

  1. Place almonds and water in a blender and let sit overnight.
  2. Blend until the almond is broken into small chunks, about one minute.
  3. Run liquid through fine mesh strainer.
  4. If you would like vanilla milk, add extract and sweetener of your choice.
  5. Can be stored in the fridge for about 3 days.

Recipe Notes

Change it Up:
For an inexpensive alternative, substitute rice for the almonds. Cinnamon and sugar are a great addition to sweeten it up.
