Lemonade is a favorite indulgence around our house. Some days I like to switch it up and add a little flavor variation without putting in too much work, or using artificial syrups.
This is my basic lemonade recipe with blackberries added. It can be made with lemon juice from a bottle, but nothing screams the flavor of summer to me like freshly-squeezed lemon juice…..not to mention the aroma it leaves in my house.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 5-6 lemons
- 4 cups water
- One handful of fresh blackberries
Mix lemon juice, sugar and water.
In a bowl, mash a few blackberries just until they start to release their juices.
Scoop up the berries and juice with a spoon and drop into lemonade.
Serve on ice.
Recipe NotesChange it Up:
Substitute raspberries for blackberries
