Simple Fried Rice


  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 4 large eggs cracked and mixed
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 2 green onions
  • 1/2 cup peas or any combination, carrots, bell peppers, or mushrooms , sliced and sauteed, steamed, or blanched
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce


  1. In a wok or large saucepan heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium heat until it runs quickly on the pan.
  2. Add the eggs and cook, stirring frequently until cooked through.
  3. Remove eggs and set aside.
  4. Add another tablespoon of oil to pan and cook garlic for a minute until fragrant. Add rice and cook for a few minutes until warm.
  5. Toss in vegetables and soy sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until veggies are cooked to your desired tenderness.

Recipe Notes

Dress it Up:
Throw in some cooked diced chicken, ham or shrimp with the rice to give it a little more substance and flavor.
Change it Up:
Experiment cooking with different oils such as sesame oil or chili oil to get some different base flavors to your rice.
