Parmesan Pull Apart Bread (Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar agave, or honey
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 to 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoons active yeast or instant yeast equal to a packet which is 1/4 ounce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup very finely shredded Parmesan cheese fresh is best but you can use canned as well

Instructions

By Hand or Mixer:

  1. Mix the water, oil, and agave/honey/sugar.
  2. Add half of the flour, yeast, and salt. (If you are using dry yeast and non-instant, mix yeast with liquids and let sit for 5-10 minutes before adding flour and salt.)
  3. Slowly add the rest of the flour as needed and continue to knead by hand or mixer for 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with towel and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Cut dough into 20-25 pieces.
  6. Mix melted butter and minced garlic.
  7. Dip dough in butter mixture, roll in Parmesan and drop into 9 x 13 glass pan.
  8. Repeat until all dough is in pan.
  9. Let rise, covered with a cloth, until doubled.
  10. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly golden on top.

Recipe Notes

Bread Machine:
Add the water, oil, and agave/honey/sugar. Cover with flour. On top of flour, place salt and yeast. Turn mixer on dough cycle
Check your dough once it has incorporated all the flour. (If needed, add more flour and let dough finish cycle, or until doubled in size for the initial rise)
