Before I share with you some of my excitement for going to conferences related to blogging, I want to give you a run down on my love for food and blogging.
Eight years ago, I got married as a 19-year-old girl and moved 2,000 miles from home to Alabama. My first year was hard, but I immediately found comfort in the kitchen: making my mom’s dishes, my favorite foods, feeding new friends……you name it. Food was my comfort. Sharing food was my friendship builder and I loved (still do) it!
A few years of constant cooking and I started to get burnt out of constantly sending recipes to friends and family, so I started the most ridiculously rinky-dink blog on earth. That little junky blogspot was my place to share recipes with those I loved and I was happy with it. After a while, I got lazy and stopped posting.
Once my husband and I finished school and moved to another state with my family, I was ready to get out and share my love of food some more. However, my grammar is terrible and my computer skills too. So I did nothing, until my sister-in-law who is fabulous with grammar and internet, teamed up with me and we got foodapparel.com going.
We have been blogging for close to 2 years and have been loving it. After about a year of blogging, we decided to make it more than just an occasional hobby and start branching out to see what the blog world had to offer. We have had the opportunity to teach others to cook, be on a couple TV segments and branch out on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to start getting our eats out to a larger crowd and get more ideas from other fellow foodies. And we have loved it.
We are not career bloggers, but we love getting to spend out spare time working on it and sharing our love for food.
We have recently started going to conferences and get-togethers for blogging and love getting to meet other bloggers. I love to learn from them. I love their stories. I love meeting the wonderful people behind these internet masterpieces.
Next week I have the opportunity to attend Build Your Blog Conference and am so excited. Their is a list of awesome bloggers that are going to be there and I have met very few of them so I’m excited to get to know them face-to-face. I love hearing their advice and getting to know those we have started guest posting for!
We have also found that networking brings so much inspiration for our food and has also built our readership. Looking forward to attending my first Build Your Blog Conference and learn from bloggers who have turned this hobby into a potential career!
